The 3 axle 60 ton side wall cargo trailer is a heavy-duty version of the standard side wall semi trailer. It is developed for markets where a reinforced three-axle chassis may be used for high-payload operation under local regulations.
The frame can use deeper beams, thicker load-bearing sections and closer cross-member spacing. The side wall itself is designed for cargo containment, while the main restraints must still be provided by approved straps, chains and lashing points.
The stated capacity is not a universal road allowance. AOHA confirms legal gross weight, axle ratings, tire capacity and tractor compatibility before production. The customer should also provide typical load distribution and forklift operating data.
