Flatbed Semi Trailer
The 2 axle 40ft container flatbed trailer is designed for markets and routes where a two-axle semi trailer is legally suitable. Compared with heavier multi-axle models, it can offer lower tare weight, fewer tires and simpler routine maintenance.
The trailer may be configured for a single 40 ft container, a single 20 ft container or other combinations supported by the twist-lock arrangement. The open deck also enables transport of pallets, building materials and general cargo when suitable securing equipment is used.
Two-axle designs require careful confirmation of axle ratings and legal weight distribution. AOHA therefore reviews expected cargo weight, kingpin load, axle spacing, tractor fifth-wheel height and local regulations before finalizing the specification.
Typical Applications
━━━━
Key Advantages
━━━━
| Lower Tare Weight Potential
A two-axle layout may reduce empty trailer weight and leave more legal capacity for cargo in applicable markets. |
Reduced Running Components
Fewer tires, hubs and brake assemblies can simplify maintenance and replacement planning. |
| Container and General Cargo Use
A full platform provides more flexibility than a skeletal chassis for mixed transport work. |
Easy Loading
The open platform supports forklift, crane and side-loading operations. |
| Custom Lock Positions
Twist locks can be arranged for the container combinations used by the operator. |
Practical Regional Operation
The design is suited to regular routes with known cargo weights and stable road conditions. |

Quality Control and Delivery
━━━━
Inspection should focus on legal load distribution, twist-lock dimensions, kingpin location, axle alignment, brake operation and deck flatness. The final configuration must be approved against the customer’s expected container weight and applicable transport rules.
